Zara Emery has become one of our Deaf Sports First Trustee/Directors. She comes from a 4th Generation Deaf Family and has a deaf daughter making her the 5th Generation.

Zara is very keen to break down barriers of communication for deaf people. She was involved with DEX (Deaf EXperience Limited) which is a charity which campaigns nationally to improve access to education, wellbeing and quality of life for deaf and hard of hearing young people. Zara has supported many deaf young people across Yorkshire to meet other young deaf people and to share their experiences. They welcomed young people with any level of deafness and all communication methods. She has 15+ years of experience working within a Deaf Care setting and 8+ years of experience working with Deaf Young People. She enjoys travelling and has been to many places including USA, Canada, Thailand, Africa, Japan and other countries gaining much experience in her travels. Her real aim is to encourage deaf people to achieve their potential and independence

Even though she has joined DSF, she is not a sports fan person but she is caring, hardworking and willing to support those deaf children, young people & adults who wish to participate & succeed in sporting activities.
